I'm so glad Carla wrote this post: Say What You Mean And Mean What You Say It's a perfect reminder to just be yourself, and not only in the blogging world it's also an important message for life in general! Don't be afraid to say something if that's how you feel. If we all share the same opinions, life would be really boring ;)

After all the negativity recently, I was so happy to see this post by Adele:YA Community Thanksgiving - Come One, Come All

First Rate Fridays was created as a way to highlight & thank bloggers for their great posts. I love the book blogging. It's not only about finding great books to add to my ever growing wishlist & TBR piles, it really is about a community! I love chit chatting about non-bookish things on Twitter with people from all over the world whom I never would have met otherwise! I love being a YA reader who is not so YA anymore (ok, trapped in a 30-something's body but still young at heart) and not feeling out of place, that we stick together and stand up for YA when the genre gets attacked. And last but not least, I love that even though we all have different tastes, that we embrace & encourage eachother to be true to themselves! Heck, it would be boring if we were all the same ;)

Thank you YA community, you guys are the best!

Well this week I fail. Work had me almost blow a gasket, which is super rare! My brain is fried and I didn't hink to keep track of all my posts, heck I even came to work without my suit jacket on yesterday and just buggered up last weeks 1st Rate post a minute ago :O

I was disappointed to see quite a few shocking posts and since I'm not one to like contoversy I'm not going to link them. I thought about it, but really, what good is sharing that?

...and if you know me, I like things more Happily Ever After. I saw a few bloggers talk about offering/composing blogger tips which is fun to see. I <3 this community and think it's so nice to see people giving back. Here is the link to Lori's at Pure Imagination.

I didn't make it into my google reader too often but found a funny post thanks to a tweet by Cindy. Thanks Lenore for all the chuckles...How to win followers and influence fellow book bloggers.

I read for fun, try to pick books I think I'll like and so far have had good luck in that the majority of unsolicited books I've been sent are coming from publicists that know what I like too. I sympathsize with the following two posts. I also like that it is a reminder that many of us are blogging as it's something we like to do, we love books, but we also have school/paid jobs/family - heck I'm sure if this was my 'real' job I'd be way more critical, as that is what my job would be, but -sigh- it's not.
Kristi from http://www.thestorysiren.com/ talks Blog criticism & positive reviews   and  S.F. Robertson is sticking up for bloggers.

Thanks to a tweet from April at goodbooksandgoodwine.com, I found this intersting post by Meg at inwhichagirl.blogspot.com on Why YA Romance needs to change.

Jen at Devourer of Books wrote a post asking how one decides what books to accept for review, what if they are outside your comfort zone? I often wonder about this. In 2010 I decided to focus on YA but there are times when I see 'adult' books that catch my eye too..plus I haven't totally given up reading them.

I came across what looks like a fun game at Fantasy Literature called Rename That Cover

...and because I'm super excited for this release, here's some info about Cassie Clare's next book! (I saw this on many blogs so decided to go to the source instead of name them all LOL)

Off on March break with the kiddies = very little blog time this week :(

  • A great article on YA and it's wide range of readership here.

  • Not a post, but on twitter Jenn asked : Where is the best places to post your reviews, amazon, goodreads where else?  I've always been curious about this. I tend to post on my blog & goodreads.com, the odd time on chapters.ca  as I'm Canadian. If you are looking into a book, where is your go to place? I'd say GR is mine. Do people update their books, post reviews etc on both GR and Librarything?

  • This one kinda shocked me, Katiebabs talks about respect between authors & readers.

I'll start this off. I found this via a retweet by Scholastic (@ScholasticCDA) and although not posted this week, it stands out as my favorite blog read.

Steph Su Read's 1st page analysis of The Hunger Games. I loved how she broke this down into bits. This was such a unique post, I hope to read a bunch more in this 'Think Like A Writer' series.
